Non-diagnostic Ultrasounds
The ultrasound procedure, which is noninvasive and diagnostic, uses high-frequency sound waves to view internal organs and produce images of the human body. The human ear cannot hear the sound waves used in an ultrasound. Ultrasound is noninvasive and diagnostic. The image viewed is called a sonogram. An ultrasound procedure is scheduled for a client who has tested positive for pregnancy and who after counseling is undecided on whether to carry her pregnancy to term. The client is usually at least seven weeks pregnant as calculated from the time of her last menstrual period. By week eight or nine of fetal development, the fetus is visible in the sonogram. An ultrasound picture of the fetus is given to the clients.
