Save the Date - Dinner & Auction 2010

Mark your calendar for Saturday, November 13, 2010 for the Life Center's annual Salute to Life Dinner & Auction. Join 600 other friends of LIFE at the Grand Ballroom, Hyatt Regency Hotel, in downtown Sacramento as we celebrate the Life Center's 38 years of LIFE-saving work. The evening includes a gourmet meal, complimentary wine, spectacular raffle baskets, and a fantastic live auction. Testimonials from our clients will be the highlight of the evening.

Salute to Life Dinner & Auction Update

Once again, the generosity of those who invest in the Life Center’s LIFESAVING mission far exceeded our hopes! At the Salute to Life Dinner & Auction, held on November 14, 2009, over $300,000.00 was raised through donations and pledges.

Held for the first time at the Sacramento Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom, over 600 Friends of Life enjoyed an evening that included dinner and wine, testimonials from clients, 15 raffle basket drawings, and bidding on 26 incredible auction items.

As always, testimonials from two of our former clients were the highlight of the evening. One client was helped by the Life Center over 7 years ago, when she was 17 years old. She brought her 7 year old son and father to the Dinner and movingly described how her counselor at the Life Center helped her make a lifesaving choice. She further shared how every child is meant to be born, and has a specific purpose; her father emotionally shared how he and his wife can’t imagine life without their grand son.

Another highlight was that an additional $37,000.00 was raised for the LIFEMOBILE. This is an RV that will become our “clinic on wheels.” We now have just over $100,000.00 in an account exclusively designated for the LIFEMOBILE. We are thrilled that the Knights of Columbus are also partnering with the Life Center to purchase and operate an ultrasound machine for the LIFEMOBILE. We estimate we need at least $155,000.00 to purchase a used RV, have it retrofitted, secure advertising, parking, etc. for the Life mobile, plus have two years of operating expenses in the bank.

Community Education/Outreach

Our Community Education Coordinator, Dolly Broderick, is busy planning and scheduling events. She is available to speak to students in grades 7-10 about making the right choices regarding sex and sexual behavior. Please call Dolly at 916-451-4357 for more information.

Creative4Life

We are happy to announce that 53 students in the Sacramento area chose to participate in our first annual Creative4Life competition. This competition offers high school students age 14-18 an opportunity to creatively express why they support our LIFESAVING mission.

We were delighted and amazed at the quality and diversity of talent shown from high school students. Recently we completed our process for choosing the top three winners, which was NOT an easy task!
